Tyler de Jong: Field Researcher
Tyler holds an MSc. focused in glaciology and an undergraduate degree in geomatics from the University of Ottawa. During his MSc, he studied the changes of the summer surface snowpack on Devon Ice Cap, Nunavut using remote sensing and ground validation. He is currently completing his PhD part-time with Sean Carey at McMaster University. He has worked at Wilfrid Laurier University as a Research Associate on snow hydrology in the Western Arctic, and with the Wildlife Conservation Society on impacts of changing sea ice and snow cover on wildlife populations in the Yukon and Western Arctic. Research interests include hydrological processes and interactions, remote sensing, and field work. Tyler is responsible for monitoring the Wolf Creek Research Basin, collecting hydrological data, and ensuring instrumentation is operational. Outside of work, Tyler enjoys taking advantage of the Yukon’s playground where he gets to backcountry ski, mountain bike, paddle, hunt, and fish (not always in the same day though).

David Barrett: Field Researcher
David has a diploma in Environmental Technology from Canadore College. He is originally from Kuujjuaq, Quebec but calls the Yukon his home now. He has been in the Yukon for the past 10 years where he has worked for the territorial and federal government on mining reclamation projects across the Yukon Territory. He has also worked in environmental consulting in the Yukon collecting baseline data for proposed mining sites. David is ensuring that all the monitoring equipment is working the way it should be in the Wolf Creek Research Basin and collects hydrological data. During his time off he likes to play in the mountains, whether it be snowboarding, hiking or camping. He also likes to play around the water canoeing, fishing and swimming.

Greg Galloway: Field Technician
Greg has a BSc in Earth and Environmental Sciences from UBCO. He has worked as an exploration Geologist for a Gold exploration company in the Yukon for two summers. He has also worked for a consulting firm in the oil sands, as a hydrologist technician. Currently, he is monitoring our network of 40 remote weather stations and hydrometric stations in the Rockies, based out of Canmore.

Lindsey Langs: Field Technician
Lindsey is a technician working on research sites in the Canadian Rocky Mountains, based in Canmore, AB. She has recently finished her M.Sc degree in alpine forest hydrology, and has worked on hydrological based projects in the Rockies as a whole for the last 5 years. Her thesis specifically focuses on quantifying alpine forest water use during variable subalpine growing season conditions using eddy covariance and sap flow, in addition to using stable water isotopes to trace tree water sources and water use behaviours. Lindsey helps support graduate students from the Hydrometeorology Group by ensuring successful field seasons in the mountains, in addition to providing technical and lab support for the U of S Coldwater Laboratory in Canmore.

Sarah Irvine: Project Co-ordinator
Sarah completed her BSc. Honours Earth and Environmental Science (Biology minor) at McMaster University in 2015, and MSc. Geography (Water) at The University of Waterloo in 2018. Her thesis research focused on the hydrological and ecological controls on dissolved organic carbon fluxes within a constructed fen watershed in the Athabasca Oil Sands region. She is responsible for program communications, including liaising with data and technical core personnel, the knowledge mobilization team, communications team, stakeholders, assisting with finance management, and ensuring the general smooth operation of the program. In her free time, she enjoys hiking, travelling, watching Disney movies, and hanging out with her dogs.
